Isle of Wight-based chef, Robert Thompson, is joining P&O Cruises’ flagship Britannia in June as a guest chef as part of the cruise line’s ‘Friends of the Cookery Club’ programme.
During the cruise, Thompson will serve up some of the best foodie experiences to be found on land or sea and will also inspire Britannia’s guests to recreate the culinary magic once they return home.
While on Britannia, Robert will offer interactive masterclasses in the state of the art Marco Pierre White Cookery Club where he will prepare a range of seasonal and speciality dishes bringing Isle of Wight ingredients to the ship; hosted dinners where guests can enjoy a three course dinner at the chef’s table with paired wines as well as a Q&A session and book signing.
P&O Cruises president, Paul Ludlow, said:
“As the holiday company for anyone with an interest in food, I’m delighted that our guests will have the opportunity to meet and learn from, Robert who is a champion of seasonal local produce. It’s not every day that you rub shoulders with a Michelin-starred chef while enjoying the holiday of a lifetime and I’m sure that our guests will enjoy every moment. Holidays are made of memories such as these.”
Robert Thompson is an award-winning chef serving up contemporary British cuisine in an open kitchen concept at Thompson’s Restaurant in Newport on the Isle of Wight. His reputation as the youngest chef in the UK to be awarded a Michelin star gave him the platform to promote his own style, ideas and talent amongst the culinary world. Robert’s style has always been a congenial one: his menus have remained brief, his style of cooking respectful of the old classics, yet mindful of a modern dining trend that values, above all, lightness and freshness. He always looks no further than the producers outside his front door and continues to be an ambassador for Isle of Wight ingredients.
Robert will be joining Britannia’s B915 7-night Guernsey, Belgium & The Netherlands sailing departing 1st June 2019. Select prices from £549 per person.
