Medina Marching Band will kick off its 50th anniversary year with a prestigious appearance in the world-famous London New Year’s Day Parade tomorrow (Thursday).
The performance will see the band join thousands of other participants from across the UK and around the world as they parade through central London. Hundreds of thousands of spectators are expected to line the streets, with millions more watching the spectacle via international broadcasts.
The invitation to perform in the capital marks a significant honour for Medina Marching Band, reflecting its long-standing commitment to musical excellence, youth development, and community spirit built over 5 decades.
Founded in 1975 by the late George Urry, the band has become a well-known part of musical life on the Isle of Wight. It has provided generations of young people with opportunities to build musical skills, confidence, and friendships, while representing the Island at high-profile events across the country and overseas.
