52 members and 5 helpers of Medina Marching Band recently represented the Isle of Wight in Roeselare, Belgium after taking part in the VE day parade and tattoo.
The day started with a street parade formed of all participating bands, followed by individual performances in the town square.
Drum Major Jason Penny led the Island band in performing to large crowd and dignitaries from Roeselare. The quality of drill and sound was enjoyed by all.
Tim Morris, bandmaster said:
“It was a great experience. I know the bands that took part really enjoyed it.
“It was an absolutely fantastic time, the camaraderie between the bands, the friendships that were made, the experience – it’s going to stick with people for a long time.”
Watching in the wings was Band Chairman Kevin Hayward, who was moved by the bands performance:
“It was a very proud moment for me as I know how much hard work goes in to get to this standard.”
