The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has touched down in central Newport tonight (Saturday) as flying medics respond to a life-threatening emergency in the town.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has responded to a residential address on Whitepit Lane, with 2 ambulances, an enhanced care paramedic and a duty officer in attendance.
They are being supported by the air ambulance crew, who touched down in nearby Nine Acres Playing Field at around 21:20.
The incident began shortly before 21:00.
Whitepit Lane is blocked to all traffic from the junction with Winston Road.
UPDATE – HIOWAA has stood down from the incident, without conveying a patient.
The incident has now drawn to a conclusion.
It is the second time today that the air ambulance has responded to the Isle of Wight… the yellow and green helicopter landed at Bembridge in response to this afternoon’s plane crash.
