Hampshire Constabulary’s Marine Support Unit assisted Isle of Wight officers following the discovery of a body in Ryde on Thursday evening.
A man in his 70s was found at an address in Melville Street at around 18:00 on 13th May.
Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the Coroner.
It remains unclear why specialist officers were tasked to cross the Solent to assist local officers.
