30-year-old Danny Hanna, who assaulted his then-girlfriend before then trying to get her to change her statement so he wouldn’t go to prison, will be sentenced in the courts in February.
Hanna, of Sea Road in Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and intimidation of a witness/juror when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates earlier this week (Tuesday).
Ann Smout, prosecuting, told the court that on 12th July 2022, Hanna and his then-partner were at a flat in Cowes, laying in bed.
Hanna had been ignoring his partner all day and when she tried to speak to him about it he kept telling her to ‘shut up’. Frustrated, Hanna, then kicked the woman in the back, pushing her out of the bed and onto the floor below.
An argument ensued with Hanna shouting at the woman saying “you’ve done this because you’ve cheated on me haven’t you”.
The 30-year-old then attempted to gain access to the woman’s phone, grabbing her and trying to pin her down to forcibly unlock her phone using her face ID.
Bail conditions were imposed on Hanna, who was told not to contact the woman in question.
Later in the year, on 9th October 2022, the woman was at McDonald’s in Newport ordering on the self-service machine when she noticed Hanna standing on the other side of the restaurant, smiling in her direction. Hanna aproached her, before being told that the pair shouldn’t be talking to one another.
As she left the fast-food restaurant, she was followed by Hanna who, when he reached her car, said “you’ve put me in prison and ruined my life, call the Police and say it didn’t happen”.
The female managed to drive away, despite the efforts of Hanna, reversing out of a parking space with her door open.
Defending, Amy Hosell said that her client should get full credit for his early guilty plea and that prior to this conviction he was a man of good character and was heavily un-convicted.
The case was adjourned until 24th February to allow for a pre-sentence report will be compiled.

Lock him up idiot he needs to grow up
Heavily un-convicted? How much does he weigh I wonder?
He should be locked up

…
i would assume that the bail conditions of not contacting her will easily be adhered to based on the above.
I’m also heavily un-convicted. Maybe because I didn’t break the law or kick anyone
He a right idiot like us
