A 72-year-old Freshwater woman who crashed her car whilst almost twice the drink-drive limit has been banned from the roads – but she has already hung up her keys.
Valerie Seabright, of Terrace Lane in Freshwater, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday charged with 1 count of drink driving on 3rd September this year.
The incident occurred on School Green Road, Freshwater and saw a poor standard of driving, with Seabright crashing her red Toyota Aygo into another vehicle.
The court heard that blood analysis carried out registered 152 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood – the legal limit being 80.
Seabright’s solicitor told the bench that she has already sent her licence back to the DVLA and has therefore stopped driving.
Magistrates handed Valerie Seabright a 20-month driving disqualification and ordered her to pay a fine of £672, alongside costs of £85 and a £67 surcharge.

They should have banned her until she has passed a driving test, to make sure she doesn’t drive again.
Got away with a ban ? So in that case impose a custodial sentence.
Wtf, she got a 20 month ban.
Idiot !
Yer, lock her up and throw away the keys.
Wtf happend to ‘old enough to know better’?
Let they who are without sin cast the first stones .
There for the grace of God go I .
