UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Lushington Hill, Wootton this afternoon (Thursday).
The road has been closed in both directions by police.
UPDATE @ 16:44 – A 94-year-old woman has been conveyed to hospital by ambulance after being knocked down by a Nissan Micra on a zebra crossing.
The incident has occurred by Harwoods garage.
The extent of the woman’s injuries are currently unknown and Police are awaiting an update from doctors at St Mary’s Hospital.
The road remains closed in both directions with traffic being diverted via Station Road.
Hard road closures have been put in place indicating the severity of the incident.
UPDATE @ 17:21 – The road has now been reopened in both directions, however traffic remains heavy in and around Wootton.
The elderly casualty is believed to be in a stable condition.
UPDATE FRIDAY: Police are appealing for witnesses to yesterday’s collision to come forward.
The casualty, now said to be 93-years-old, is currently being treated for injuries to her head, back and legs. Her injuries are not deemed life threatening.
