The Isle of Wight’s annual Lambretta Day once again proved popular over the Bank Holiday Weekend with over 300 Lambretta’s and Vespa’s taking to the roads under the glorious sunshine.
The event kicked off on Sunday at The Riverside Centre in Newport and, unlike last year, the weather was hot and dry so numbers taking part were greater than ever before.
Come 13:00 the scooters took to the road on a ride-out to Ryde Pavilion for an afternoon of music and a few beers.
The Pavilion was packed with well over a 1,000 people enjoying the sunshine and the music from a whole host of DJs and live music from Three Minute Hero’s, Outta Time, The Hi-Watts and headline act Orange Street.
A number of trophies were awarded to participants with Phil Brooks on his Lambretta LIS186 Mugello taking the top spot of ‘Best Overall Scooter’.
The ‘Best Turned Out Club’ award went to Devizes, collected by Glyn Hides, whilst Dan Shales on his Lambretta LI Series2 took the win for ‘Best Lambretta’. ‘Best Vintage’ went to Wesley Hume with his Lambretta LD150.
Plans are already in place for a special 2-day 20th Anniversary event next May Spring Bank Holiday weekend.
