One of the Island’s most popular play areas, JR Zone, is set to re-open this weekend following a flood earlier in the week.
Disaster struck on Tuesday when an 18-inch water main burst to the rear of the JR Zone building, flooding the ground floor. But staff, contractors Top Mops and Southern Water’s partners have been working hard to clear up the mess and rid the building of water.
Jon Carter, Managing Director of JR Zone has said:
“We may still be a little damp round the edges but would like to reassure customers that this was clean, chlorinated drinking water, not the other sort. The silt that was washed in is inert and poses no health risk.
“We have of course taken additional steps by sanitizing areas affected by the water and all have been washed with professional sanitizing cleaning product”.
The work by the team means that the hundreds of children expecting to party at JR Zone this weekend will still be able to.
Jon added:
“We really appreciate the positive support from customers, suppliers and partners in offers of help and symphony.
“Longer term we have a lot of replacement to do as all parts affected by the flood must be replaced, however, we will work to plan this as far ahead as possible and through the nights where possible to minimize disruption to our day to day”.
