Jhoots Pharmacy on the Isle of Wight is no more, with the 4 remaining stores in East Cowes, Ryde, Sandown and Ventnor acquired by Allied Pharmacies.
In recent months, Jhoots has come under significant fire over staff shortages and management problems, which led to difficulties in collection prescriptions and the doors being closed for prolonged periods. A number of staff hadn’t been paid for months.
Island Echo reported how stores had shut up shop earlier in the year, at a time when pharmacy regulator General Pharmaceutical Council was investigating issues within the Jhoots business.
In November, the NHS formally removed Jhoots Pharmacy in Ventnor from its pharmaceutical list, meaning the branch will no longer be authorised to provide NHS services.
Now, in a major deal, Allied has taken on a further 68 branches of Jhoots nationally – now taking the total number of stores acquired this year to 129.
Allied already took over the running of the Cowes branch at the town’s medical centre, and will now run stores at East Cowes Medical Centre, Esplanade in Ryde, Sandown Medical Centre and Albert Road, Ventnor.

I’m sure it’s nothing to do with the local druggies that has targeted this place over the last year…
Also sure that has nothing to do with a decline in corporate greed, all par with the pharmaceutical industry.
I’m also not emplying this constitutes a drawback from the money cow of the “pandemic”.
They should have kept it going until ateast when the Russia X Ukraine fiasco had stopped.
Quids in.
