29-year-old Toby Lucas and 25-year-old Courtney Strong have been jailed for physically abusing a young child, which included binding them with tape.
Police uncovered video evidence of the shocking abuse, which showed the youngster – who was under the age of 10 at the time – being bound and physically injured by Lucas.
Strong was present during the abuse but did nothing to intervene.
Following an investigation by the specialist Isle of Wight Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT), Lucas and Strong were charged with assault, ill-treatment or neglect of a child likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury. They appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court for sentencing on Friday (2nd May).
29-year-old Lucas, of Home Meade in Newport, was handed a 10-year extended prison sentence. 25-year-old Strong, of Medeway in Sandown, was jailed for 30 months.
PC Sheryl Taylor, from Isle of Wight CAIT, has said:
“The abuse uncovered by police was nothing short of horrific. The child in this case had been bound and caused injury and suffering, in addition to being left incredibly distressed.
“No child should ever have to experience this sort of thing. The actions of both defendants and the parts they played in either inflicting the suffering or doing nothing to prevent it is utterly abhorrent. They will now face time in prison as a result of this.

His sentence means he will serve 10 years, not the two thirds with good behaviour. The extended part means he will be released on licence for 5 years. Hers, at 30 months probably means she’ll serve 20. This is probably because she took no active part in the violence itself.
Not to worry the child has a few years of peace in which to prosper before our good old social services hand the child back to the parents, because their entrenched and failed belief is that the child is better off with the parents no matter how badlty they are abused
This child is unlikely to be his, and is even more unlikely to be returned to the mother. Any other children she may have will automatically be placed on the ‘at risk’ register.

They should be registered as unfit parents and any kid should be removed and it’s life declared as in dangerous and threatening surroundings

Raises a few questions like who recorded it and you can garuntee alot more abuse was done. The woman always gets off and doubt she will spend more than a couple of months before being let out. She should never be allowed kids again or near them
