Staff and teams at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust are up for a number of prestigious healthcare awards after being shortlisted for 8 gongs in the past few weeks.
The Trust’s allied health professionals have been shortlisted for the Chief Allied Health Professional Awards in the AHP Workforce Transformation Award.
Meanwhile, the organisation’s Patient Experience Team are finalists for this year’s Patient Experience Network Awards in the Best Team category having been shortlisted for their work in building and developing a team whilst changing their approach to complaint handling.
Nursing teams have also been recognised for their efforts after being shortlisted in 2 categories for this year’s Nursing Times Workforce Awards. They have been announced as finalists in the Best Employer for Staff Recognition and the Engagement category for recognising the dedication and care Island nurses provide for International Nurses Day.
They have also been shortlisted in the Workforce Team of the Year category for their work to improve pre-apprenticeship career development at the Trust.
Student nurse, Jade Wareham, has also reached the final of the Royal College of Nursing Awards for Nursing Student of the Year for the 3rd year running. As previously reported by Island Echo, Jade also reached the final in 2 categories of the 2023 Student Nursing Times Awards.
In more good news, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has been shortlisted for an HSJ Award in the patient safety category for their work to develop integrated critical care pathways.
This is in addition to already being shortlisted for 2 HSJ Patient Safety Awards, 1 for the Falls Shared Governance Council (FSGC) at St Mary’s Hospital and another for a partnership scheme with the Isle of Wight Council’s Wightcare service.
Juliet Pearce, Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals, has said:
“I am incredibly proud of all our staff for getting the recognition they deserve.
“Everyone at our Trust has worked really hard during some exceptionally busy times to improve the quality of care and the support we provide to our Island community. We wish all our teams the very best.”

How about they forget the award and have a pay rise? Just putting it out there like.
NHS is thriving under Tory leadership, stop being greedy!
Why are they all wearing masks for a photoshoot?
the uniform of ideological compliance…
“the uniform of ideological compliance”
the comment of an illogical idiot science denier.
learn to spell and read properly mate, you must have had a poor education due to the tories no doubt, why do you think all these people are dropping down dead after the procedure you so encourage? masks do nothing anyway..only ideologs wear them these days and you’ve proved that one well. Before an operation during covid up St Mary’s, I asked a consultant if I needed a mask when I was in his room chatting pre op, Why? he said, they don’t do anything but make a mess..you trust your BBC science mate and good luck with the next 49 boosters..
You are a very stupid person spreading very stupid lies. You are not privy to correct information because you read conspiracy websites full of lies, but instead you are simply believing and spouting lies because you think being different makes you special. You really are “special” but in a special needs way.
your lifestyle choice and get some facts, , I think you maybe reading some untruths oh very specialy enlightened stupid one,all the Drs I’ve spoken to agree with the mask verdict that they are useless and indeed cause more problems, people wear them as a defience these days, guess your a bit odd like them too…read data before typing eh..
A mask is a filter. Many pathogenic viruses (and pathogenic fungi and bacteria) are airborne in aerosols and wearing a mask stops them from being inhaled. Any fool can understand that, except you it seems. Obviously, the only doctors you have spoken to are those dealing with your mental health problems.
OK . I’ll bite and try to translate.
“Learn to spell and, read properly mate. You must have had a poor education, due to the Tories no doubt ! Why do you think all these people are dropping down dead after the procedure you so encourage? Masks do nothing anyway.Only ideologs *( no such word) wear them these days and you’ve proved that one well ( supposition or can you back that up with a quote/facts?). Before an operation during covid up St Mary’s, I asked a consultant if I needed a mask when I was in his room chatting pre op, Why? he said, they don’t do anything but make a mess.( Never happened. If it did , the onus is on you to prove it.) You trust your BBC science mate and good luck with the next 49 boosters..
You do understand that , even by your own twisted logic, the BBC science ( ofm) is not behind the pandemic/vaccinations?
Because that is apart of their uniform. You know, how wearing a mask stops people catching unwanted bugs when they are being operated on.
They’re in a theatre you dingbat
The next Plandemic that is coming soon
October is my guess
In my career as a nurse, there were no awards, we just got on with the job delivering a much higher standard of care you get today. Registered nurses actually looked after patients.
Ok tell us about the dinosaurs while you are at it
You are so funny,not.
The government will see this and cut more funding. Can’t have the NHS working when their mates need to push us into private healthcare.
