An Isle of Wight-based driving instructor is hoping to raise awareness and promote road safety after witnessing several incidents of ‘unsafe’ driving.
Darren Willett – an approved instructor who works as part of the Isle of Wight Driving Academy – regularly posts videos caught on his in-car dashcam on the school’s Facebook page in a bid to draw attention to the hazards faced by learner drivers on the Island’s road network.
Several of the clips have gained large amounts of attention online due to the nature of the events he has captured.
Darren, who moved to the Island from Kent in mid-March of this year, says he is particularly keen to spread the word about safe driving following a spate of road incidents across the Isle of Wight in recent months following the easing of lockdown restrictions.
The Isle of Wight Driving Academy offers lessons for learner drivers, and can also provide refresher sessions to licensed drivers. You can find the Academy’s website here.

Bet he’s never seen anything like island driving so far.
I’ll bet, some “overners” can’t handle Island roads (not the Company).
