The chair of the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, the leader of the Isle of Wight Council and the chair of the Clinical Commission Group have today (Monday) said thank you to all who, regardless of their organisation, have worked and volunteered to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Islanders over these winter months.
In a letter of thanks Vaughan Thomas, Cllr Dave Stewart and Dr Michelle Legg have jointly said:
“The national news tells us daily just how difficult this winter is. However true that may be, it can still be demoralising for staff and volunteers involved in the Island’s health and wellbeing services.
“As a health and care system we planned for this winter. So far our plan to provide safe care for those who need care from the NHS, social care, independent and voluntary services at a time of emergency is working. We can only do this with the support of all the staff and volunteers who we know are going above and beyond. So we want to publicly say a big thank you to all involved. We still have a lot of hard work ahead of us and we’re keen to receive feedback on how we can improve services for the future.
“We would also like to thank all Islanders for playing their part. It is only by individuals taking personal responsibility for their own health – following the advice of health and care professionals, getting vaccinated against flu, helping to prevent the spread of infection and generally making efforts to stay well over the winter – that the burden on services, which are working at capacity, can be reduced. So thank you to all Islanders”.
