The new Police & Crime Commissioner for Hampshire, Donna Jones, met with Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely on Friday to hear more about his concerns in relation to petty crime, domestic violence, hate crimes, drugs and speeding across the Island.
During the discussion, Ms Jones also referred the MP to her proposal to change the name of Hampshire Constabulary to include the Isle of Wight – something Mr Seely welcomed.
He said:
“I am supportive of the name change to specifically include the Isle of Wight. I think it’s a great idea and puts the Island at the forefront of thinking when it comes to police planning and new ideas and initiatives being rolled out across the force.
“I would like to thank Donna for taking the time to come and talk to me and for listening to my concerns. I was interested to hear about Donna’s initial plans to improve the safety of Island residents and I look forward to working with her in the weeks and months ahead to take our ideas forward.”

I think I know where the other sausages went!
Lol,if I said that, It would be deleted!
And the burgers and the chicken and the ribs!
Namechecking us is a start but won’t make up for the lack of funding and resources.
Neither will focussing on cheap “quick fix” offences that boost the stats.
Good words, but I sense no substance will come of this.
Step one, say the right thing, tick for both
Look the part, zero points for both
Putting words into actions, we’ll see about that, won’t we…
Donna’s initial plans to improve the safety of Island residents should be…
dare we say it….
more visible police on the streets
actively intervene in removing anti social drunks and deadbeats from the seafront and town centres.
clamp down on the low level crime, such as shop lifting and drug possession
work with other agencies, to cut criminals off from benefits and the banking system so as to impoverish them until they toe the line.
bring an end to the revolving door of crime, courts, prison, streets, crime, courts etc by locking them up until they have been fully rehabilitated from drugs and put on the straight and narrow.
Yep, good luck with that one, that should be easy to sort out…. planet earth calling….mad lady/man with to much time on there hands.
