Macmillan Cancer Support’s flagship fundraiser, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will be returning to homes, workplaces, communities and schools across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight on Friday 29th September 2017.
Having raised a total of £29.5 million nationwide in 2016, this year’s event aims to raise even more vital money for people affected by cancer in its 27th year.
Area Fundraising Manager for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Beth Bartlam said:
“Last year, 7,489 coffee mornings were held across the South Central region, raising £1,758,092 for people affected by cancer. That would be more than enough to run the welfare rights element of our phone service for one year. In this time, they could, on average, deal with 41,414 cases and help secure around £55m in unclaimed benefits for people affected by cancer.
“This year, the cumulative total raised by Coffee Morning hosts and supporters since it began will pass the £200 million mark, which is a staggering amount! It just goes to show that every slice of cake and cup of coffee can add up to make a real difference. We are really proud of the contribution which people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have made and we hope we can count on their support again this year.”
It couldn’t be more simple to get involved – all you need to do is get together with family, friends or colleagues over coffee and cake.
