3 Islanders are cycling from one end of the country to the other – via the ‘scenic route’ – in a bid to raise over £2,000 for Isle of Wight charity Daisy Chains IW.
Tony Delannoy, Joe Delannoy and Jake Docksey have reached Dartmoor, Devon having set off from John O’Groats on 8th June. The team, who call themselves the Free Wheelers, are aiming for Lands End.
The journey totals around 2,000km – or 1,240 miles – and has seen the trio cycle every day for the past 3 weeks.
Things didn’t get off to a smooth start with flight delays from Southampton but Tony, Joe and Jake didn’t let that dampen their spirits when they set off bright and early at 07:00 the following day.
Daisy Chains IW is a local charity set up to help children with long term health problems, a life limiting condition or disability. The charity also supports families of pre-term babies that are resident on the Isle of Wight. Daisy Chains is able to provide emergency travel grants and general travel schemes as well as grants for therapy and equipment.
