ISLAND SCHOOLS TAKE PODIUM PLACES IN J ROCK COMPETITION

The Federation of Nettlestone and Newchurch

7 schools from across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Dorset competed in J Rock at Portsmouth Guildhall last night (Friday), with 2 Island schools taking podium places.

Taking 3rd place in last night’s event was the Federation of Nettlestone and Newchurch Primary School. Students from the 2 schools impressed the judges with their performance ‘Who shook the jungle?’.

Joining the Federation on the podium was The Bay CE School who took 2nd place with ‘Tattin Folke – Play from the heart’.

Both schools were awarded Awards of Excellence for Choreography, Costuming Character, Entertain and Lighting.

The Federation of Nettlestone and Newchurch also picked up awards for Stage Crew, Video Performance, Performer’s Choice, Student Leadership and Healthy Lifestyle. Meanwhile, The Bay secured additional awards for Performance Skill, Concept, Set Design and Function and Soundtrack.

Medina House School also took to the stage on Friday and scooped awards for Stage Use, Concept, Entertainment and the coveted Spirit of J Rock award.
