One of the biggest national celebrations of British food is back on the calendar this year – and Island MP Bob Seely is encouraging all local caterers to get involved.
Organisers of the 2022 British Food Fortnight are predicting that this year’s event will be the biggest and most popular yet, with communities and organisations across the country making plans to take part.
Isle of Wight MP, Bob Seely said:
“British food, and indeed Isle of Wight food, is something we should be eating and celebrating more so I’m pleased we have this opportunity to do so through the 2022 British Food Fortnight.
“It would be great to see more British food sourced on Isle of Wight menus to support and celebrate our farmers and food producers.”
Mr Seely is encouraging all caterers to take part including pubs, hotels, restaurants, cafes, takeaways, schools, care homes and visitor attractions.
He added:
“If you serve food in your establishment on the Island, I encourage you to make the switch in September to British food, and – even better – Isle of Wight ingredients where possible.”
British Food Fortnight 2022 takes place from 17th September – 2nd October 2022.

Bobby still scrambling around to make Brexit seem like a good idea.
Half a sausage trying to grab more headlines by not actually doing anything. Bob endorsing something won’t make a blind bit of difference (and in fact would definitely turn me away from it). Our MP seems like a waste of space to me.
Hes not our mp he is borris,s puppit
And where does Mr Seely think all this British food will come from, given that under his government’s policies
a) we are building all over greenfield land
b) we have sent home the only workers prepared to work the land
and
c) agricultural payments are in chaos.
Perhaps the Good Fairy? Or perhaps Mr Seely will roll his sleeves up? – no forget that one.
Bob’s down for a sausage or 2. Even Isle of Wight Garlic is not even grown here now. Brought over from god knows where.
Spain apparently.
Yes, come on island cafés and restaurants, use Isle of Wight produce so that only the rich will be able to afford to buy a meal from you. Great idea, not.
Wouldn’t want to eat out anyway, especially at a certain sea front posh cafe in Ventnor, I spy sticky tables, overpriced food and filthy toilets
Sick of hearing what half a sausage has to say. Actions speak louder than words and he’s lacking on those .
I’ll tell you what, your MP has a great sense of humour. Asking you to eat more British food on the day schools say they will have to use overseas meat and vegtables because they’re cheaper. Or maybe that’s just on the mainland.
Seeley = As irrelevant as ever.
