Events are being held across the Isle of Wight today in aid of Go Orange Day, helping to raise awareness and funds for the Island’s three independent lifeboat stations.
Readers are being urged to dive deep into their pockets to support Ryde Inshore Rescue, Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat and Freshwater Independent Lifeboat. These life-saving organisations are voluntary and funded by donations.
There are a number of ways you can get involved…
In Ryde a collection is taking place at Hovertravel in the morning and afternoon rush hours. In addition, Ryde Inshore Rescue’s lifeboat will be outside The Co-Operative store between 08:30 and 17:00.
On Saturday the King Lud are hosting live bands with staff dressing up & collecting monies. The Wightlink v Hovertravel charity football match on 22nd February is being held in support of Ryde Inshore Rescue.
A ‘Orange Cafe’ is being held at Ryde’s station on Sunday 15th February, operational reasons allowing.
Over in The Bay, Sandown & Shanklin Independent will have their boat and crew all dressed up in orange in Regent Street, Shanklin today (Friday) and tomorrow with a special orange guest appearance.
The team will also be at Morrison’s in Lake collecting with a very much Orange theme.
Jewson Moreys in Sandown are dressing up in Orange and our running a raffle for a tool box.
Indys Wine bar Shanklin High street are having a Go Orange party from 17:00 with live entertainment later and all things Orange. Shops in Shanklin are also taking on the Go Orange theme.
Holliers hotel in Shanklin Old village will be having a orange dance yourself dizzy on the 28th February. More details can be obtained by calling 01983 862764.
Over in Freshwater, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat are holding a station open day with a Orange theme and sops again dressing up.
The Island Echo website has turned Orange in support of Go Orange Day.
