UPDATED: The opening of an inquest into the death of 40-year-old Irishman Morgan Savage, who was found dead in a kayak on Yaverland Beach last month, has heard how he had died from a fatal stab injury to his neck and cuts on his wrist, possibly caused by a knife.
Mystery surrounded the identity of the deceased male for a number of weeks, however Police last week confirmed that the man had finally been identified as Morgan Savage, a doctor from Dublin.
A post-mortem carried out in September proved inconclusive, leading to histology results being requested.
The inquest heard yesterday (Tuesday) how Mr Savage had injuries to his left wrist and a fatal stab wound to the right side of his neck, which were possibly caused by a knife. Mr Savage was found strapped into a kayak he had purchased from Newhaven in Sussex.
The death is still being treated as unexplained by Hampshire Constabulary. The inquest has been opened and adjourned to a later date.
UPDATE FRIDAY: Police have confirmed they are not treating the death of Morgan Savage as suspicious and are not seeking anyone else in relation to the death.
