High Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent is concluding a 2-day visit to the Isle of Wight.
Yesterday (Tuesday) Prince Michael travelled to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway in Havenstreet, where he met volunteers. HRH previously visited the popular attraction in 2016.
Later on in the day, a Romanov Memorial Dinner was held at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes, which was attended by Prince Michael ahead of today’s engagements.
The first engagement of today was at Sandown to celebrate the centenary of the town’s war memorial. At the war memorial, overlooking a perfectly calm sea, Prince Michael met with local students from The Bay School, as well as the volunteer crew of Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat.
Local dignitaries were also present including the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight and long-serving councillors.
A short while time later, Prince Michael attended The Broadway Centre to present the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to the Isle of Wight Community Bus Partnership. The ceremony was held outside in sunny conditions.
