UPDATED: Newport High Street has been closed to traffic this evening (Saturday) due to a burst water main.
Contractors on behalf of Southern Water are beginning repairs to the main resulting in the closure of the through road between Carisbrooke Road and St James’ Street.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE SUNDAY: Newport High Street has reopened to traffic, according to Island Roads.
