Havenstreet & Ashey Parish Council, in partnership with the Community Association and St Peter’s Church, have launched a number of new Foodbank collection points in the local area.
Following a recent visit to the Isle of Wight Foodbank HQ in Cowes, the local community of Havenstreet have come together to establish collections points at the local Community Centre, at St Peter’s Church and at Holy Cross Church in Binstead.
The project was officially launched at the monthly market in the community centre on Saturday (30th March).
Veronica Hattersley, Chair of Havenstreet & Ashey Parish Council, has said:
“Residents have said how they would like to help the wider community and support those in need on the Island, as well as vulnerable people within our community. The launch of this much needed project reflects the good will that exists in the village.
“The generosity of local residents, both in donating much needed items as well as their time, is greatly appreciated and we know this project will help support countless vulnerable individuals and families”.
