18-year-old Hattie Pusey will be spending 10 weeks volunteering in Ghana starting this April, with an aim of making a difference one person at a time.
Having been accepted onto the government run International Citizens Service scheme, Hattie has committed to raising £800 as part of a pay-it-forward initiative that allows the ICS programme to continue sending volunteers overseas.
The teen, who is currently taking a gap year before studying music at university next year, will be volunteering specifically for the International Service charity. International Service empowers women, children, young people and disabled people to access their rights in developing countries across the world; as well as advocating inclusion and working to reduce inequalities.
Speaking about the upcoming experience, Hattie has said:
“This is an amazing opportunity and I’m so grateful for it. I have no illusion that I will change the world, but I’m focusing on what I can do. Making a difference for one person at a time turns into making a significant change”.
To help raise money, Hattie is holding a raffle with a variety of prizes including McDonalds vouchers, 2 Cineworld tickets, £25 of KFC, 32GB memory sticks, chocolates, easter eggs, plush toys, shortbread, writing sets, purfume, wooden decorations and more. To get raffle tickets text HPVG99 £5 to 70070. Make sure to put your name so that you can be notified if you win.
