The Isle of Wight Green Party has selected their general election candidates for the prospective new constituencies of East and West Wight, and the whole island if an election is called under the current constituency system.
Cameron Palin – an education support assistant from East Cowes – and Vix Lowthion – a teacher from Newport – will be standing for the Green Party in East and West Wight respectively.
Cameron Palin has been an East Cowes Town Councillor since 2020 and sits on the Corporate Scrutiny Committee at County Hall as the IWALC representative for all local councillors. He has been actively involved in many island campaigns since 2017 including saving the Ice Rink in Ryde, calling for a frequent and reliable Floating Bridge and fighting the Conservative council when they tried to close and cut public services such as the Law Centre.
Cameron said:
“As an Island, we deserve so much more and so much better than the appalling representation we have had from the conservative MPs in recent years. I am ready to stand up and fight for Isle of Wight East, just like I do for East Cowes, and be your first MP for Isle of Wight East.”
Vix Lowthion is a parent, community councillor, and works as a secondary school teacher in Newport. After she first stood as a Green Party candidate for MP in the 2015 General Election, the Green vote rose to one of the largest in the whole of the United Kingdom (behind only Brighton and Bristol). This changed her life.
Vix has been the national Education spokesperson for the whole of the Green Party since 2016 and sat on the party’s national executive since 2020. She has lived in the west of the Isle of Wight for 17 years and volunteers for a number of organisations and campaigns, including Newport Carnival and the NHS at the Riverside Covid Vaccination Centre.
Vix said:
“Whenever the next General Election comes, Greens on the Isle of Wight are ready to campaign for even more votes and win. With Cameron Palin in the East, and myself in the West plus Green Councillors across the island, we have an excellent team to lead the Isle of Wight forward into a more sustainable future.
“I’m honoured to have been selected as our Parliamentary candidate again and thank everyone for their faith and trust in me. Now, we have to look forward to tackling the social and environmental challenges we face, and I know that with your support we can only grow in strength. I hope to see you on the doorsteps very soon!”

This pandemic as shown me that no one is actually worth voting for.
Governments are controlled by The WEF
Now, we have to look forward to tackling the social and environmental challenges we face
the greens silence on the never ending housebuilding on the island is deafening. Time they spoke up, or they aren’t green at all.
Vix loathsome certainly isn’t, shes a housing developer.
Hypocritical two faced………
does camerons mum know he is playing politician today.
jeez- no life experience, no job experience and probably still lives at home with mum – how can he be taken seriously by anyone over 25.
Our cat could likely do better than what we have become used too.
IMO greens are too nice and naive to ever gain meaningful acceptance but I wish them well for they are likely not corrupt, or greedy or nasty people but find it hard to accept that many of the public, like the politicians are, and are never, ever, going to change to be what their vision would like them to be living like.
They like immagrants. You don’t. So why you like them?
Why do these losers even bother? This is the woman who believes that lowering speed limits will improve air pollution, when it will actually make it worse, and she is a teacher ffs. I feel sorry for the kids who will grow up believing the nonsense she spouts.
What an inspired choice … don’t the Greens realise that perhaps the serial loser Queen Vix is the problem not the answer?
I wonder what Cameron want’s to be when he grows up?
We have an energy shortage now because of “green” lies warping the supply chain, imagine the disaster if these losers ever actually managed to gain any credibility!
