Orchard House in Newport has passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with a ‘Good’ rating and have been praised for being a responsive, safe, effective, caring and well-led service.
The CQC Inspection activity started on 28th June and ended on 6th July. They visited the service on 28th June 2022 and 1st July and rated the home – run by Barchester Healthcare – as ‘Good’ overall.
The report stated that they observed a high-quality, person-centred culture within the service, and the staff spoke with people in a kind and caring way. People were actively involved in making decisions about their care and were asked for their views about all aspects of the service.
Staff members said:
“I love working here; looking after the residents, helping them and giving them what they need.” and “I really enjoy helping people and making them feel valued every day.”
Residents and relatives told CQC that they felt safe and were happy with their care. They confirmed staff were kind and caring, and CQC observed positive interactions between staff and people.
In the report, a resident that was spoken to told inspectors:
“I feel safe, it’s very nice here and I am well looked after.”
Kim Fleming – General Manager at Orchard House – expressed her satisfaction with the report’s findings, saying:
“I am so proud of all we’ve achieved at Orchard House. This is a whole team result as we work together for the benefit of our residents – no matter what our role – and are committed to a whole home approach.”
