A lorry carrying gas has collided with a car on the outskirts of Whitwell this morning (Tuesday), resulting in the closure of the main road between Godshill and Whitwell village.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Whitwell Road near to Southford Lane shortly before 11:15.
Island Echo understands a Calor Gas lorry has collided with a Ford Fiesta.
No one has been injured in the incident, which has resulted in the large lorry coming to rest in a hedge lining the carriageway.
Police have closed the road between Southford Lane and Sheepwash Lane whilst recovery of both vehicles is carried out.
UPDATE @ 12:45 – The road has now reopened in both directions
