14 hardy fundraisers took part in a Penguin Plunge in aid of Age UK Isle of Wight yesterday (Sunday).
Crowds gathered at Appley Beach near the Dell Café to cheer on those brave enough to enter the icy waters of the Solent. Each dipper wore a comical foam penguin mask.
Participants of all ages were treated to a hot drink to help warm up after their wintry dip.
Elisha Leachman, Fundraising Manager at Age UKIW, said:
“All of the profits raised in December will stay on the Island to support the most vulnerable older people in our communities. We, as a local, independent charity are incredibly grateful to everyone that shows us support at Christmas”.
