A fundraiser has been set up to help an NHS nurse whose house was severely damaged by fire in Cowes yesterday (Tuesday).
Emergency services rushed to Arctic Road in the town at just gone 11:00 when a serious fire broke out on the ground floor of a terraced property, sending black smoke billowing into the sky.
3 people were taken to hospital to be treated for the effects of smoke inhalation as fire crews from 3 stations battled the blaze. The trio managed to escape thanks to a working smoke alarm.
It is now known that the house belongs to Annabelle Legaspi, a local NHS staff nurse of 20 years. Her daughter-in-law, Micha Andal, has set up a Go Fund Me page in the hope of raising some much-needed funds for the frontline worker and her family.
It’s said that Annabelle lost everything in the blaze, which comes shortly before her well-deserved retirement from public service.
