2 firefighters from Newport are set to climb the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs to symbolise the 110 floors New York’s brave firefighters ascended during the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001.
Crew Manager Simon Benfield and Firefighter Bex Thompson will complete the challenge in full firefighting PPE and with breathing apparatus on their backs, in honour of the memory of those who lost their lives almost 20 years ago. It will take place at Snap Fitness in Newport on Saturday 11th September.
The goal is to raise £1,100 for The Fire Fighters Charity – a charity that helps the everyday heroes of the UK fire and rescue community. Support is provided to firefighters whether injured, ill or in need of psychological support.
