The first 2 episodes of ‘The Beast Must Die’ are now streaming exclusively on BritBox, with Islanders being given the opportunity to enjoy a 7-day free trial.
This new 5-part drama series, which follows the story of a woman who sets out to murder the man she believes killed her son, was filmed on the Isle of Wight throughout the latter part of 2020.
Starring Cush Jumbo, Jared Harris and Billy Howle, The Beast Must Die also features a number of local actors and extras. The Island’s stunning scenery is also evident in the series, with many recognisable locations such as The Needles, Military Road and Culver Down featuring alongside less well-known places such as Gatcombe Manor and Love Lane in Bembridge.
The Beast Must Die is being produced by New Regency Television and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Films. It is an adaption of the 1938 novel by Nicholas Blake – the assumed name of poet Cecil Day-Lewis, father of Daniel Day-Lewis.

Why is it not included in the licence fee .

Get your facts right – it is majority owned by itv and minority owned by the bbc.
The revenue earned keeps the licence fee down.
I’ve only ever seen the licence fee go up ,not down. If the BBC are making money from this ,then they should not be taking a licence fee at all .

It’s what’s known as interminable! Watching it in the butler’s pantry (he has the Britbox) was only slightly less boring than hearing the council telling locals to be careful during the onslaught of hollibobs. Best thing about the whole programme was our dire summer last year. The only really convincing piece of moodiness in the whole shew!
