UPDATED: Classes at the Isle of Wight College and shoppers at B&Q have been evacuated this afternoon (Monday) due to a forklift fire in the rear yard of the garden superstore.
Fire crews are responding to the incident, which developed shortly before 13:30.
UPDATE @14:02 – The fire has been safely extinguished by firefighters from Newport Fire Station.
College students have returned to class and shoppers have been allowed back inside B&Q, which has not been effected by the blaze.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now left the scene.
