Fire crews from Newport and Cowes have tackled a kitchen fire in the center of Newport overnight, from which one male was rescued.
Three pumping appliances, Police and ambulance crews were called to Lugley Street shortly after 01:00 following reports of a fire on the first floor of Hellersea Court.
The swift actions of firefighters meant the fire was contained to just the one property, from which an occupant was rescued. He was treated by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Having extinguished the fire, the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service left the scene around 90 minutes after arriving.
