UPDATED: Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending a pizza oven fire in Ryde this afternoon (Monday).
Crews from Ryde and Newport were alerted to a fire at ‘The Blaze’ restaurant on the Esplanade at around 12:05.
The fire, which is understood to have developed in the oven’s chimney, has now been extinguished, however crews remain on scene using a thermal imaging camera.
Eye witnesses have described seeing thick smoke coming out of the chimney shortly before the fire crews arrived.
The business remains open.
UPDATE @ 12:50 – Firefighters have now left the scene. It has been confirmed the small fire was extinguished by staff members.
