UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have responded to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this evening (Wednesday).
Two appliances from Newport, an aerial ladder platform from Newport and an appliance from Ryde were all mobilised to the hospital site at just gone 18:30.
All 4 appliances are now in attendance, however it is not thought that any fire has been located.
Crews remain outside the main entrance standing by.
UPDATE @ 19:30 – Crews have been stood down from the incident and are returning to station.
It is thought a smell of burning sparked the alert.
