The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been involved in the rescue of a person stuck in mud on the River Medina this evening (Monday).
One appliance and the water rescue unit from Newport Fire Station were mobilised to Newport Quay shortly after 17:30 following reports of a male stuck in the mud near to Seaclose.
Cowes RNLI were primed to launch but were stood down a short while later when the fire crews successfully rescued the man in distress.
Newport Coastguard and the mud rescue team of Ventnor Coastguard were called to the scene at around 17:55, however no action was taken upon arrival.
The man escaped uninjured.
