UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending an animal rescue in Whitwell this evening (Thursday).
Appliances from Newport and Ventnor are currently on the scene off the High Street, alongside the temporary Animal Rescue Unit from Newport and the Land Rover from Ryde.
Island Echo understands a horse has become trapped near to a stream running behind a row of houses.
UPDATE @ 18:25 – Thankfully, the horse has managed to free itself from its predicament and is now safe. A vet is on hand to check the animal over.
It is understood the horse fell down a steep embankment.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now stood down from the incident.
