UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tonight (Sunday) tackling a house fire at a property in Cowes.
Crews were called to Love Lane at around 22:00 following reports of a fire inside a dwelling, which is believed to have started in the kitchen.
Eye witnesses say the ground floor is alight and that two elderly residents have been accounted for.
Police and ambulance crews are in attendance at the scene alongside three fire appliances.
UPDATE @ 22:50 – The fire, which has been contained to the one terraced property, has now been extinguished by fire crews using hose reel jets and wearing breathing apparatus.
Smoke, heat and fire damage has been caused.
Two appliances from Newport, one from Cowes and the Incident Command Unit from Newport have all attended the scene, with one appliance and two duty officers now remaining at the incident.
An Isle of Wight Ambulance Service officer and ambulance crew have checked over the two elderly occupants of the property, who have escaped any serious injury.
UPDATE @ 23:30 – The man and woman have not required hospital treatment and are being cared for by family members.
Emergency services have now left the scene.
