The Isle of Wight Council, working in partnership with Amey, has confirmed to residents in Sandown that their annual waste collection calendar contained a critical error… but the letter sent out to residents contained another error of its own.
Those living in Sandown recently received the annual waste and recycling resident information booklet, as has every household across the Isle of Wight. However, due to what is being called a printing error, the February 2022 collection schedule incorrectly stated that collection days were Thursday for the month instead of Wednesdays.
The Council has apologised for the error and has confirmed that there are no planned changes to the collection day in February 2022. A replacement booklet with a corrected collection schedule has been sent out.
Ironically, to confuse matters even further, the letter sent out to residents informed them of the mistake contains its own error – having seemingly been sent on 30th April 2020, some 12 months ago.
And who pays for the extra printing & postage because some high-ranking council officer couldn’t be bothered to properly proof read the draft document…..yes, us the tax-payers!
Actually amey does, so get your facts right before criticising
Consider this; next year perhaps Amey when putting in the bill to the council, will increase it in order to recoup those extra costs. The council has to find the additional money to pay for the increase. Where do you think that the council will obtain the extra money? From the taxpayers.
And who pays Amey, Chris? Think about it before responding!
