UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and ambulance crews are attending a road traffic collision in Lake this morning (Thursday).
Emergency teams are working to free the driver of a black VW Golf following a collision at the junction of Lake Hill and Lake Green Road.
2 fire appliances from Sandown and Ryde are in attendance, alongside the Rescue Tender from Newport.
The incident occurred shortly before 11:30.
UPDATE @ 11:58 – Firefighters have worked with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to safety remove the male driver from the vehicle. A full extrication has not been required and fire crews are now standing down.
Lake Hill remains open in both directions under the guidance of Police.
UPDATE @ 12:15 – The 24-year-old male casualty has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, although his injuries are not thought to be serious. A female passenger has escaped injury.
Recovery of the vehicle has been arranged. The second vehicle involved has already been removed from the carriageway.
Lake Hill remains open in both directions.
