UPDATED: Emergency services are this afternoon (Tuesday) responding to a road traffic collision on Newport Road, Lake.
Motorists are being diverted away from the scene following a collision between a Renault Scenic and a Honda Hornet motorcycle. A Vectis Blue bus has stopped the incident as a witness.
Two people have been injured in the incident and are currently receiving medical attention from paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The road is closed in both directions at the Lake High Street traffic lights.
Police are advising of delays in the area.
UPDATE @ 15:50 – A male motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is understood to have suffered a dislocated shoulder.
The driver of the car has been treated for neck and back pain.
Island Echo understands the Renault was emerging from Louis Road, turning right into Newport Road when the collision occurred with the motorcycle travelling from the Newport direction.
UPDATE @ 16:15 – Newport Road, Lake has now reopened to traffic in both directions.
Both vehicles have been recovered by Stag Lane Motors.
