Firefighters were tipped out to an unusual incident in the East Wight last night (Friday) – an electric scooter ablaze in the street.
It was just before 21:00 that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised an appliance from Shanklin to Medeway, Lake.
Retained firefighters arrived on scene, off The Fairway, to find the lithium battery-powered vehicle well alight.
Breathing apparatus was donned and a hose reel used to bring the incident under control.
The circumstances which led to the blaze are unknown.
The good side is one of these illegal scooters is off the roads for good
There are too many of these dangerous contractions
on our streets.
The Numpty’s should be wearing helmets.
To think electric vehicles have these batteries.
That is why so many of them go up in flames.
I feel safe with my Nissan Leaf, one of the first
Electric vehicles.
If Nissan go bust I don’t trust other makes.
