An elderly lady has been treated by paramedics after she was assaulted and robbed in Newport this afternoon (Sunday).
Police were called to the scene in the town centre after a young female is alleged to have assaulted the elderly woman before taking her possessions, including a mobile phone.
At least one person has been arrested in relation to the incident, which occurred in the Pyle Street area.
Witnesses have praised a young male for his efforts in helping the victim.
