UPDATED: Emergency services are this morning (Friday) attending a road traffic collision on Middle Road, Calbourne.
The incident, which has occurred near to Calbourne Mill, has involved at least three vehicles, although no one is believed to have been seriously injured.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are in attendance.
Island Echo understands the incident was caused when at least one vehicle skidded on ice. It comes after freezing temperatures overnight with no gritting runs carried out by Island Roads.
The road is currently blocked and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
School bus services including Route 325 (ex.via Newbridge) and 401 will divert and not serve beyond Wilmingham Lane, according to Southern Vectis. Students at Calbourne who catch the Route 325 and Route 401 will be picked up by the Route 325 that comes via Newbridge, plus the Route 403.
UPDATE @ 08:12 – Middle Road is now passable with motorists being directed by Police.
One person has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport with minor injuries.
At least one vehicle is understood to have sustained serious damage.
