A young woman escaped serious injury following a road traffic collision on The Downs near Ashey last night (Saturday) in which her vehicle rolled and came to rest on its roof.
Police were called to Ashey Road after a black Ford Ka collided with a bush and then a bank before rolling several times down the road, as first reported by Island Echo. The driver, who lives in London, has said she was ‘a little lost’ whilst attempting to travel towards Ryde via Havenstreet.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which was cleared by midnight. The car was recovered by Stag Lane Motors.
The young female, who was visiting family on the Island, was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport by paramedics, however sustained no serious injuries and was treated for whiplash and shock.
