Emergency services were this morning (Wednesday) called to a double road traffic collision on the outskirts of Ryde, in the same location at West Ashey.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police were called to Ashey Road shortly before 10:30 after a car was involved in a road traffic collision coming off The Downs. Thankfully, the driver of the vehicle escaped uninjured and was not conveyed to hospital following the minor incident.
Whilst recovery of the vehicle was taking place, a second road traffic collision occurred in the same location, this time involving a motorcyclist. It is understood the motorbike went into the hedge lining the carriageway just behind the damaged car.
Paramedics were called back at the scene to treat the injured rider.
The individual’s condition is currently unknown, however injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The road remains open.
UPDATE @ 13:00 – The Isle of Wight’s Roads Policing Unit are reminding motorists that the roads are slippery and drivers should adjust their speed to the conditions.
UPDATE @ 16:11 – The motorcyclist was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital however is not believed to have sustained any serious injury.
An X-Ray performed, with a broken leg ruled out.
