Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF) has launched its Surviving Winter 2017/18 campaign, calling for people to donate their Government ‘Winter Fuel Payment’ if they are able, or to make a much-needed donation to help older and vulnerable people struggling with fuel poverty in our local communities.
Funds raised are recycled directly to those most in need of help through HIWCF partners The Footprint Trust, Vivid Homes and The Princess Royal Trust for Carers to ensure people can afford to stay warm, eat well and remain mobile during the coldest months, as well as providing practical help including attending doctor’s appointments, visiting the shops to purchase essential items and maintaining an active social life.
Jakes Ferguson, Chief Executive at HIWCF commented:
“It is crucial that we provide the most vulnerable people with the means to survive wintertime, as for some people it can come down to a choice between eating a meal or heating their home. Through the donation of Winter Fuel Payments from those more fortunate members of our community, we can ensure that those most in need are able to keep warm and well”.
If you can help, head over to HIWCF’s ‘BT My Donate’ page (https://mydonate.bt.com/donation/start.html?charity=182347) or send your donation by cheque to: The Chief Executive, HIWCF, Dame Mary Fagan House, Lutyens Close, Basingstoke, RG24 8AG.
