Detectives on the Isle of Wight are this week investigating a serious assault on a 71-year-old man in Sandown.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the man was assaulted near the astro turf at Fairway Sports Complex in Sandown at around 17:30 on Sunday (25th October). The man has suffered serious facial injuries as a result.
The assailant is said to be a teenage boy aged between 15 and 16-years-old. He is described as white, about 5ft 10″ tall with dark hair and wearing light clothing.
Police are investigating reports that two teenage boys and a teenage girl wearing a white coat and glasses were with the boy just prior to the incident, however it is said they were not involved in the assault.
Detective Constable Katy Lee from the Isle of Wight Investigations Team said:
“We are appealing to anyone who was at the Sports Complex at this time who may have seen this incident. We think the teenagers may have been in the area before and after the incident happened.
